The Start Of The Journey

After 25 years in the financial sector, Andrea Neal decided to take the plunge to take over a derelict 17th century barn and converted it into a tearoom.

The Pub

Situated on the River Nene, The Kings Head offered an exciting new venture & enabled us to take ``The Old Barn Tearoom`` to The Kings Head!

9 Year Later

The transformation was clear to see... A previously empty barn with no heating or water was now a thriving cafe in the heart of Wadenhoe!

6 months on...

Since opening the pub in February, it's safe to say it's been an interesting time with Covid meaning we had to close for 4 months, however, we are now back open!

The 17th Century Kings Head in the picturesque English village of Wadenhoe in rural Northamptonshire has been serving locals and travellers for over 400 years. We serve delicious and hearty traditional pub fayre as well as the latest culinary creations from our talented chefs with our twist! We also have a Tearoom!

In summer, our grassy riverside paddock is a picturesque hive of activity, where drinkers can sit in the shade of the ancient pollarded willow trees and watch the colourful narrow boats negotiating the nearby lock. In winter, the comfortable bar with its roaring log fire is always a welcoming draw. At the same time, the adjoining restaurant area is ideal for larger parties as well as couples seeking a more intimate dining experience.

The surrounding countryside is regarded as among the most picturesque in the East Midlands and is ideal for ramblers. Two long-distance footpaths – the Nene Way and the Lyveden Way – pass the doorstep of the pub. Our friendly and professional staff are always on hand to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Also not forgetting we are a dog-friendly pub in our bar and garden areas.
